Rain And Kim Tae Hee To Become Korea’s Wealthiest Real-Estate Owners
Celebrity couple Rain and Kim Tae Hee will officially become South Korea's biggest real estate investors once they tie the knot.
Taking into account their individual real estate properties, the union between the pop star and the actress can be likened to a small business merger.
According to Soompi, Segye Ilbo reported that the couple is poised to combine 50 billion won (approximately $42.8 million) worth of assets.
Kim Tae Hee owns a villa in Seoul's Hannam district that's worth 6 billion won ($5.1 million), a building in Gangnam that's 13 billion won ($11.1 million) and other real estate properties estimated at 20 billion won ($17.1).
Rain also owns a villa that's worth 6.2 billion won ($5.3 million) and a shopping center in Cheongdam, Gangnam that's 25 billion won ($21.4 million).
He made their wedding announcement Tuesday on Instagram and referred to the 36-year-old "Yong Pal" actress as the "best present" he's ever received.
Kim Tae Hee, meanwhile, praised the 34-year-old singer-actor as "a man of good character."
"He has a warm heart. I think we can make up for each other's shortcomings," Soompi quoted the actress as saying in an interview with InStyle Magazine last year.
The couple started dating in 2013 and first met during a commercial photoshoot in 2012.
Advertisement manager and TV personality Oh Kyung Soo described on SBS' "One Night of TV Entertainment" in 2015 how the famous couple first met.
"There are many cases of double casting in the advertisement industry nowadays. We also called Rain and Kim Tae Hee for a double casting, and the two were very shy when they first met," he said, according to DramaFever. "It made the place feel like they were on a blind date rather than a commercial shoot."
He added, "Rain was one week away from enlisting in the military, but I saw him almost every day. He came on the set even when it wasn't his turn to shoot."
