CORTIS Yokohama Finale — A Catalog Too Thin

Cortis (Bighit Music)

At CORTIS's very first solo concert - July 18 at Incheon's Inspire Arena - the group played "YOUNGCREATORCREW" five times and "REDRED" four times inside a roughly 100-minute set. Fans who paid 143,000 won for the show complained online that it felt closer to a fan meeting than a concert. Seven weeks and three continents later, that same tour closed this weekend with three sold-out nights at Yokohama's Pia Arena MM, capping "PUT YOUR PHONE DOWN," BigHit Music's newest group's first world tour.

My overall assessment is that CORTIS proved something genuinely rare for a group thirteen months into debut - it can sell out arenas in Korea, across North America, and in Japan on the strength of two EPs - even though the Incheon backlash exposed a real problem the tour never fully solved: a five-member group with twelve original songs trying to fill a world-tour-length setlist.

The Incheon controversy wasn't a rumor. Korean outlets reported the repetition in detail - "YOUNGCREATORCREW" five times, "REDRED" four times across the encore and main set - and fans specifically flagged the absence of unreleased material, remix reworkings, or cover stages that newer groups increasingly use to stretch thin catalogs into full shows. CORTIS responded on the second Incheon night by taking song requests for the encore and extending member ment segments, a fix that reviewers on the ground described as an improvement but not a resolution.

What actually broadened the setlist was "MOTION," the group's collaboration with Three 6 Mafia's Juicy J, which debuted live at CORTIS's Lollapalooza Chicago set on August 1 - a show that put the only K-pop boy group on that year's lineup in front of roughly 50,000 people on the T-Mobile Stage. From there, "MOTION" folded into the North American leg's regular rotation alongside returning staples like "FaSHioN," "ACAI," "JoyRide," and "Blue Lips," giving the back half of the tour a genuine new song rather than another remix of the same eight or nine tracks. It's the tour's clearest example of a group building the show it should have opened with, in real time, in front of paying audiences.

That North American run - Toronto, New York, Atlanta, Irving, Los Angeles, San Francisco - sold out every city, a fact CORTIS's label has repeated in nearly every recap since. It's a legitimate headline. It's also one that sits oddly next to a Yokohama finale still built largely around the same rotation the group had been performing since July, three months after the catalog problem was first identified and one new single further into a discography that's still measured in the single digits of songs, not albums.

This review is written without having attended the Yokohama shows in person. It draws on official tour materials, ticketing and attendance data, Korean and English press coverage of the Incheon and North American dates, and setlists tracked by fans across the run - sources that reliably capture the structural facts (what was played, how often, and how audiences and critics reacted) but not the specific texture of standing in Pia Arena MM on any of the three closing nights. Treat the assessment here as a read on the tour's arc, not a firsthand account of how the finale itself felt in the room.

What the Yokohama close actually reveals is a group whose commercial momentum has outpaced its own songwriting output - TikTok named CORTIS its Boyband of the Summer and "REDRED" Korea's song of the season days before the tour's final stop, and Billboard and Variety have both put the group on youth-culture watchlists this year. None of that required CORTIS to write a thirteenth song. The group's next real test isn't another sold-out arena; it's Rock in Japan Festival on September 20 and the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix on October 9, two bookings where CORTIS shares a stage with acts and audiences under no obligation to already know a two-EP catalog. No second tour leg has been announced.

CORTIS's "PUT YOUR PHONE DOWN" tour has concluded with no additional dates announced. The group's two EPs, "Color Outside the Lines" and "GreenGreen," are out now via BigHit Music.
