SEGA Football Manager Game Reaches 2 Million Downloads Before Launch Day
SEGA's upcoming football management game has hit 2 million pre-registrations just days before its global release. SEGA Football Club Champions 2026 launches January 22 at noon Japan time across PlayStation, PC, and mobile platforms.
The free-to-play title marks the first worldwide release for SEGA's 30-year-old SakaTsuku series, previously available only in Japan. Players who pre-register will receive substantial launch bonuses, including a choice between Manchester City stars Erling Haaland, Tijjani Reijnders, or Rúben Dias.
Global Launch Details
The game goes live at 12:00 p.m. JST (3:00 a.m. GMT) on January 22, with pre-downloads starting January 21 for iOS and Huawei users. PlayStation and Google Play pre-downloads begin at 9:00 a.m. UTC+8 on launch day, while Steam downloads start at release time.
SEGA Football Club Champions 2026 will be available on PS5, PS4, Steam, iOS, and Android with full cross-platform play. The game uses Football Manager technology and includes over 10,000 licensed players through FIFPRO, featuring all 60 Japanese J-League clubs alongside K-League teams and Manchester City.

Players who registered before launch receive a comprehensive reward package:

The milestone was announced January 16 by SEGA Publishing Korea. The company reached 1 million registrations in mid-December, less than three weeks after pre-registration opened November 27.
Gameplay Features
Players manage local clubs with the goal of reaching global success through strategic recruitment, training programs, and tactical decisions. The game positions itself as a more accessible alternative to traditional management simulators while incorporating gacha-style player acquisition mechanics.
The title supports multiple languages including English, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Thai, Indonesian, Arabic, Turkish, French, Italian, and Spanish. Players can choose clubs in their hometown or preferred regions and compete in PvP modes, Cup matches, and international tournaments.
