Seo Taiji broke his year-long silence on December 24, 2025, with his traditional Christmas message, sharing personal stories about watching Netflix dramas with family, his fascination with autonomous vehicles, and health advice for aging fans.

The 52-year-old music icon apologized for lacking the comeback news fans hoped for. "I worked hard this year, but I can't share the 'good news' you've been waiting for," he wrote. Instead, he offered glimpses into his everyday life.

Autonomous Driving Beats New Music as Year's Highlight

Surprisingly, Seo's biggest excitement in 2025 wasn't music-related. "The near-completion of autonomous driving technology that I've dreamed about since elementary school made me most excited and happy," he revealed.

The tech-savvy artist balanced enthusiasm with caution: "But I'm keeping a close watch every day to see whether AI will make our children's future smaller or much bigger."

He confirmed that a recent concert video concluded successfully and mentioned anticipation for upcoming "This Is Faust" musical performances.

Family Netflix Nights and Unexpected Song Cameos

Seo described a hilarious family moment while watching "Bon Appétit, Your Majesty" (Korean: "The Tyrant's Chef"), the Netflix time-travel drama starring Yoona that aired from August to September 2025. "Suddenly 'Come Back Home' appeared in Joseon era style, and the whole family burst out laughing," he recounted.

His iconic 1995 Seo Taiji and Boys hit appearing in a historical drama created an unexpected comedy moment.

Seo also praised another recent drama (likely "When Life Gives You Tangerines"), saying the family watched "holding Kleenex" before suddenly laughing when energetic fans appeared during the finale's festival scene.

Alaska Trip and Health Concerns

Travel highlights included an Alaska adventure. "The most memorable moment was having hot gumbo soup on the cold streets," Seo shared.

He turned attention to his fanbase's well-being: "Old fans are probably at an age where health checkup numbers are starting to worry you. No matter how busy you are, make sure to take care of your health!"

Life with Lee Eun Sung and Daughter

Seo married actress Lee Eun Sung on June 26, 2013, in Pyeongchang-dong, Seoul. Their daughter was born August 27, 2014. The couple met when Lee appeared in his "Bermuda Triangle" music video in 2008 and began dating in 2009.

Previous Christmas messages revealed their daughter's name is Dam (or Jeong Dam), that she's interested in violin, and her childhood dream evolved from becoming a "dinosaur doctor" to a "bird doctor" after learning dinosaurs evolved into birds.

Cultural President's Annual Tradition

Known as the "President of Culture" in South Korea, Seo Taiji maintains a once-a-year communication pattern through Christmas social media posts. His groundbreaking work with Seo Taiji and Boys in the 1990s revolutionized Korean music by introducing hip-hop and rock while addressing youth social issues.

His influence spans generations. BTS covered "Come Back Home" in 2017 for Seo's 25th anniversary project, demonstrating his lasting impact on K-pop.

The Christmas updates have become anticipated events for longtime fans, offering rare windows into the private life of an artist who shaped modern Korean pop culture.
