CORTIS's First Concert Ran 100 Minutes and Repeated the Same Songs. Night Two Looked Different.
CORTIS's debut concert lasted about 100 minutes, skipped an encore, and performed its own single "Young Creator Crew" five times. By the second night, the show had changed.
The five-member Big Hit Music group - Martin, James, Juhoon, Seonghyeon and Geonho - opened its first world tour, "2026 CORTIS TOUR ," at Inspire Arena in Incheon on July 18 and 19, less than a year after debuting in August 2025. Both nights sold out during fan club presales. The trouble started almost immediately after the first show ended: online communities and social media filled with complaints about the runtime, the setlist, and the overall experience for a standing ticket priced at 145,000 won.
CORTIS' discography consists of just 12 songs across two albums, and fans pointed out that two of them - "Young Creator Crew" and "REDRED" - were played five and four times respectively.
The complaints went beyond the music. Some standing-ticket holders said they were let into the venue at 4 p.m. and ended up waiting outside longer than the show itself lasted. Screenshots showing shuttle bus departure times moved earlier after the concert ended ahead of schedule circulated online, alongside comments like "This felt more like a fan meeting than a concert."
Not everyone agreed the format was a failure. Culture critic Kim Sung-soo told the Korea Herald that the show "more closely resembled Western hip-hop concerts or music festivals than conventional K-pop idol shows," where repeated songs build crowd energy over time rather than relying on staging changes to hold attention. Big Hit Music framed the results in similar terms immediately after the first show, saying the audience "put down their phones and immersed themselves in the concert" and that the venue was "filled with high-purity sing-alongs."
By night two, the show had visibly changed, though the agency has not detailed exactly what was adjusted. CORTIS addressed the reaction directly in a statement: "We are grateful and happy to be able to fill such a large stage less than a year after our debut. We exist because we perform. We cannot create such good culture and stages without you. Please stay with us."
Member Geonho posted separately, "Thank you for creating our own culture with us," and member James followed with a longer reflection on Weverse.
CORTIS will perform at Lollapalooza Chicago from July 31 to Aug. 1 - the only K-pop boy group on this year's lineup - before opening its North American tour in Toronto on Aug. 4. The group returns to Seoul for a first-anniversary concert at Korea University's Hwajeong Gymnasium on Aug. 22 and 23, the next point at which the format questions raised in Incheon will get another public test.
