Jared Leto's Joker Is Really 'Crazy' In 'Suicide Squad,' Says Co-Stars; Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn To Beat Him?
Warner Bros. and DCEU's villain-centric "Suicide Squad" has certainly caused quite a stir in Hollywood's comic book movie genre since it was announced in 2014. While several cast members including Jai Courtney ("Divergent, "Terminator: Genisys") and Will Smith ("I Am Legend,"Focus") have been preparing to take on their baddie roles, Jared Leto, who plays Joker in the film, has fully embraced his villain character even off camera.
Ike Barihholtz shared his experiences on set with "Suicide Squad" co-star Jared Leto in an appearance on The Howard Stern Show.
"He did this crazy thing. All the actors were rehearsing, and his character is in love with Margot Robbie, she's Harley Quinn," Barinholtz explained. "So, we're rehearsing, and this actor who plays the Joker's kind of lieutenant, walks in and he goes, 'Present for Ms. Quinn.' Hands her a box. She opens the f**king box, and a live, giant black rat pops out. And we're like, 'What the f**k is going on? That's crazy!"
"The Mindy Project" actor shared another instance which apparently involved a dead pig and some bullets.
"So like 20 minutes later, we're still rehearsing, and the actor comes back in and he goes, 'This is for the Squad from Mr. J. And he throws a pig on the table, a dead pig, and as he puts the pig on the table, all these bullets start to come out of it!"
Jared Leto's role in "Suicide Squad" is still under wraps, although previous reports claimed that he will be the movie's Hannibal Lecter and will help the team from inside a prison cell.
Below is the movie's official synopsis from Warner Bros.
"Assemble a team of the world's most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government's disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do."
Watch out for Jared Leto's debut as The Joker as "Suicide Squad" is set for release on Aug. 5.
