Wendy Solo Comeback September 2025: Red Velvet Singer Returns Under New Label ASND

Red Velvet's Wendy is staging her solo comeback this September, her first release in over a year under new management company ASND Entertainment.
ASND Entertainment confirmed Thursday that "Wendy will make a comeback in September. It has been a while since Wendy's last solo release, so she is working hard to prepare. We ask for your support and interest."
This marks a significant milestone for the 31-year-old vocalist. The upcoming release will be Wendy's first new music in about a year and six months, following her second mini album "Wish You Hell" in March 2024. More importantly, it's her debut project since leaving SM Entertainment and joining startup agency ASND.
Wendy's contract with SM Entertainment ended on April 4, 2025, though she remains an active Red Velvet member for group activities. She signed with ASND on April 25, 2025.
Her last solo effort proved her staying power in the industry. "Wish You Hell" clinched the top spot on iTunes Top Albums charts in 21 regions worldwide and dominated sales charts on China's largest music platforms, QQ Music and Kugou Music. The six-track EP showcased her evolution from the ballad-focused approach of her 2021 debut "Like Water" to a more rock-influenced sound.
ASND Entertainment has been making waves in K-pop recently. Founded in January 2025, the startup label gained attention by signing five members of girl group fromis_9. Wendy's addition strengthens their position as they build a roster focused on established vocal talents.
The agency appears committed to supporting her dual career path. "We are excited to welcome this multi-talented artist. We also intend to fully support Wendy's group activities with Red Velvet," ASND stated when announcing her signing.
Details about the September release remain under wraps, but fans are speculating about the musical direction Wendy might take. Her recent work has shown increasing artistic independence, moving away from her earlier ballad-heavy material toward more diverse genres.
The singer recently contributed to the Japanese adaptation of "Marry My Husband," performing "Blazing Steps" for the Amazon Prime series in July. This suggests she's staying active while preparing for her comeback.
Red Velvet debuted in 2014, with Wendy establishing herself as one of K-pop's most respected vocalists through hits like "Psycho," "Red Flavor," and "Ice Cream Cake." Her solo career launched in 2021, proving she could stand on her own while maintaining her group commitments.
The September comeback will test whether ASND can successfully manage a major K-pop star's solo career while navigating the complexities of her ongoing Red Velvet obligations.
