'Power Rangers,' 'Divergent: Ascendant' Movie Release Date Delayed: Reboot Concept Art Surfaces

The leading Young Adult action series, "Divergent: Ascendant," original release date was pushed back by Lionsgate to give way to the "Power Rangers" movie release.
According to The Wrap, the entertainment company rescheduled "Divergent: Ascendant" from a supposed release on March 24, 2017. "Power Rangers" seemingly took the said date of the young adult action film. "Divergent" series, according to Lionsgate, is now slated for a June 9, 2017 release.
Sci-Fied revealed that the cast for the upcoming reboot has been confirmed via Power Rangers' official twitter page. The team of five color-coded avatars will be played by Dacre Montgomery as Red Ranger, Becky Gomez will characterize Yellow Ranger, RJ Cycler as Blue Ranger, Naomi Scott to portray Pink Ranger, and Ludi Lin as Black Ranger.
Meanwhile, concept artist Alex Ruiz and Gregory Semkow were brought on the film's production to help visualize a darker and more adult version of "Power Rangers." It was remembered previously that the gritty, dark and bloody "Power Rangers" film took the online world by storm and people loved the adult version of the fan-based movie.
Ruiz wrote in a post on Deviant Art the trailer "lit the fire under many asses to get a full on Hollywood film made" for the re-imagined nineties classic. He got to work with co-artist Semkow to put a new flavor of Zordon, Rita Repulsa, Alpha and the mighty Megazord's character.
However, the movie version of Ruiz and Semkow was rejected. Saddened by the event, Ruiz wrote on the site, "Unfortunately our guy didn't get it, it went to another director. Such is the nature of the film business. And if you want to be a concept artist, you have to accept that most of what you work on might never be seen and/or made."
"Many things fail, or get shelved, of indefinitely postponed, usually early on but sometimes even in production. This means you might not be able to show the work you did on that project for a very long time, if ever," he added.
Not just because their artwork was not approved, it doesn't mean their creations weren't gorgeous. Check out Ruiz's and Semkow's artwork here.
After the "Power Rangers" movie release date was moved, it doesn't mean something wrong might happen with its production. From the looks of it, Lionsgate is probably trying to replicate "Divergent" series' success with the "Power Rangers" reboot. As of now, the entertainment company seems to stick with the March date with high hopes of turing the remake into its next big project.
