Tom Cruise To Leave Scientology So Katie Holmes Would Let Him Get Close To Daughter Suri?
Despite being one of the celebrity faces of Scientology for years now, there are speculations that Tom Cruise might be considering leaving his religion.
Rumors that Cruise could be distancing himself from Scientology sparked as he sold his $7.4 Million country mansion in Dormans Park, East Grinstead, West Sussex, UK- a property purportedly close to the Scientology British headquarters.
Variety noted that the property is "just a handful of miles from Saint Hill Manor, the British headquarters of the famously secretive, highly controversial, and frequently criticized Church of Scientology of which Mister Cruise is a dedicated and outspoken member."
The reason behind the sale of the property, which Cruise bought with his ex-wife Katie Holmes, is purportedly yet to be clarified.
"For reasons completely unknown to this property gossip, the veteran box office superstar appears to be in a mad dash to lighten his residential real estate load," the report added.
With the Hollywood A-listers close relationship with Scientology church leaders, it may not be hard to imagine him welcoming his churchmates to his mansion, possibly even letting them borrow the property for gatherings.
Is selling the property an indication that Tom Cruise is slowly cutting off ties with the church leaders?
These speculations can be connected to previous rumors that Scientology might be taking a toll on Tom Cruise's relationships, particularly that with his and Katie Holmes' daughter, Suri Cruise.
It could be recalled that Scientology was an issue that Katie Holmes allegedly put on the table when she filed for divorce from Tom Cruise. Apparently, the "Dawson's Creek" alum doesn't want Suri Cruise to be brought up in the church.
"During a deposition in his court battle against a pair of magazines, Tom Cruise admitted that ex-wife Katie Holmes filed for divorce 'to protect Suri from Scientology,' according to court documents," ABC News reported in 2013.
"Rumor has it that church leaders don't want Cruise seen publicly with his daughter [Suri] because she's not being raised in the church," Celeb Dirty Laundry previously reported.
