New 'Vikings' Season 4 Trailer Is Out: History Channel Series Extended To 20 Episodes

A new "Vikings" season 4 trailer is out with pictures hinting of more betrayal, deaths, and goodbyes. This new clip might have hyped fans of the History Channel TV series starring Travis Fimmel as Ragnar Lothbrok but it is not the only good news.

Here is another thing fans can be excited about. Not only "Vikings" season 4 release date is getting nearer, this upcoming season will also be on air more times than the usual. The fourth season is now twice longer than the first three seasons.

"History has ordered four more episodes of drama series Vikings, for a 20-episode fourth season," Deadline reported after the new "Vikings" season 4 trailer was released. "The network also announced Season 4 will premiere on at 10 PM Thursday, February 18."

There is a catch though with this extension from History. The first 10 episodes will start airing on the said "Vikings" season 4 release date while the other ten will air on the latter part of 2016.

What can fans expect in this longer season? There will be deaths, young characters growing, and possibly the death of Ragnar Lothbrok.

How long will the king of Kattegat last in this new season? The third season ended with Ragnar seriously ill. Set photos surfacing on the internet also do nothing but fuel thoughts that maybe, Fimmel's character will be killed in the show which is also known for slaying some of its most beloved character.

"Vikings" creator Michael Hirst also refuses to rule out such storyline, especially with the fact that in real life history, Ragnar died early. He thinks the show can survive without its main character.

"I've always seen Vikings without Ragnar," he told The Hollywood Reporter back in April last year.

"I thought it was very important when I started thinking about this whole thing that Ragnar had many sons and some of his sons became more famous than he was. So I can perfectly well envision a world without Ragnar and further adventures for the sons. Absolutely. That's something I really, really want to do."
