Microsoft's Xbox One Slim Release Date Announced? Price Cheaper Than Previous Releases?
The release date for an alleged Microsoft Xbox one slim has reportedly been confirmed to happen this year and at a cheaper price.
Though this rumoured release has been talked about alongside an alleged mini version even before the launch of Xbox One, there hasn't been any official confirmation about it yet. But it is expected that the device could come out to be sort of "Apple TV-esque" that perhaps wouldn't play full Xbox One games but could run numerous media consumption apps. Also, the rumors haven't really predicted a smaller version that could be as powerful as the original Xbox One. But it is expected that the slimmer version could come excluding a disk drive with a much smaller physical design. Thus this product might not really replace the Xbox One but might complement it by offering more limited gaming options, according to fans.
According to BGR, the rumors have come via Petri IT Knowledgebase which got the information from unnamed sources that Microsoft Inc is considering an Xbox one slim that might have the release date sometime in the second half of 2016.
As cited by attackofthefanboy.com, the company's blogger Brad Sams had heard from his internal sources about the rumor.
"I have heard from internal sources that the company is considering plans for a lightweight Xbox One that may only be for Windows store games and would compete with the Apple TV," he stated in his blog. "But it's not clear if these plans have been scrapped."
This rumored unit might be offering user access to games, but not to the regular blockbuster games, but for limited games available at the Windows store.
As to the pricing, there's still no clarity about the cost of this rumoured device. According to fans, considering the popularity of Apple TV and the fact that Microsoft Inc has been expanding its Windows ecosystem producing all sorts of devices, the rumor about an Xbox one slim release date might be considered to be taken seriously.
