'The Big Bang Theory' Season 9 Spoilers: Penny And Leonard Face Marital Issues; Amy's Ex-Boyfriend To Return?
"The Big Bang Theory" season 9 took a break after airing their latest episode entitled "The Opening Night Excitation" on December 17. Fans of the show are expected to catch episode 12 on January 7.
Fans saw how Amy and Sheldon took their relationship to the next level on the previous episode. After five and a half years of dating, the couple had their very first intimate encounter.
Now that Amy and Sheldon took a step higher in their relationship, the upcoming episode will feature Sheldon missing his beloved Amy, while she was away attending a conference.
While it may seem a smooth flow for both Amy and Sheldon, showrunner Steve Molaro hinted that Amy's ex-beau will return.
Molara revealed on TVline (via Latin Post) that Amy's ex-boyfriend is a busy guy "but the door is wide open for him to come back. We were honored to have him."
Although Molaro didn't clarify if Amy will be rejecting Sheldon for her ex, he said "I think we will move on until the next time we talk about it. Sheldon in that moment has a very clear plan in mind at the end of the episode.
"It's a chance for us to take a little breather from the weightiness of the Sheldon-Amy relationship and put the spotlight on some of the other amazing relationships and characters that we have on our show."
On the other hand, a leaked spoiler featured Penny and Leonard facing some marital issues. The couple will also set up a meeting with a psychiatrist when "The Big Bang Theory" returns on its new episode.
According to Wikia, the newly-wed couple realizes their marital issues after talking to Dr. Sarita Gallo. Penny seemingly visits the doctor to do sales call, only to be refused by the doctor. Penny then asks Leonard to pretend to be the client so that she can get her to buy the drugs.
But as they were talking, Penny ended up telling the psychiatrist that she has anxiety issues towards Leonard because she feels like serving as a mother figure to husband rather than being his wife.
"The Big Bang Theory" will return on January 7 for its twelfth episode called "The Sales Call Sublimation."
