A North Korean defector said that Kim Jong Un's regime "will collapse within ten years." The person, whose identity wasn't disclosed for safety purposes, used to work with the elites in North Korea before escaping.

"It is Kim Jong Un's regime that is the most unstable," he told CNN, comparing it to previous dictatorships in the country. "And it is going to be the shortest."

CNN reported on Tuesday that the defector feared revealing more details would put the life of his family - still in the "Hermit Kingdom" - in danger.

He said that Kim Jong Un "tried his best" when he took over the position after the death of his father, Kim Jong II, in 2013.

He added that the dictator flaunted a "false image" by giving away gifts to North Koreans, being seen in public and being broadcasted by state-run television.

"[Kim Jong Un] tried his best [to give the people a better life]," he said.

Under his regime regime, the 32-year-old supreme leader expelled his uncle, Jang Song Thaek, in 2013. Jang was the second most powerful man from the ruling Workers' Party in North Korea. He was later executed after Kim Jong Un accused him of "a number of crimes and of obstructing the nation's economic affairs."

"I can tell you for sure the North Koreans who are in the upper middle class don't trust Kim Jong un. I was thinking about leaving North Korea for a long time. After seeing the execution of Jang, I thought, 'I need to hurry up and leave this hell on earth.' That's why I defected," he said.

He went on, "They are terrified. The fear grows more intense every day."

The defector added that Kim Jong Un "revealed his true side" when he decided to expel his uncle, wherein the arrest was seen on state television. Jang was called "despicable human scum, worse than a dog" in a statement before his execution.

"Kim Jong Un is mistaken that he can control his people and maintain his regime by executing his enemies," the defector said. "There's fear among high officials that at any time, they can be targets,"

He claimed, "The general public will continue to lose their trust in him as a leader by witnessing him being willing to kill his own uncle."

He added with guarantee, "There is no collapse of North Korea while Kim Jong Un is alive. We can only expect the opening or reform of North Korea when Kim Jong Un is removed by an external power. North Korea will not collapse as long as Kim Jong Un lives."
