Robert Downey Jr. News: Gov. Jerry Brown Grants Pardon; Actor Showed 'Exemplary Behavior'

"Iron Man" actor, Robert Downey Jr. was granted a Christmas pardon from Gov. Jerry Brown along with other 91 people.

On Thursday it was announced that, "all completed their sentences and have been released from custody for more than a decade without further criminal activity," according to The Atlantic.

The actor was convicted in 1990 due to his involvement with drugs. In June 1996, he was pulled over by an authority in Malibu because of over speeding and was later found out that he's under influence along with evidences inside the car that involved a gun, cocaine and heroin.

Since that year, the actor had been involved to numerous law violations. A month after the incident, he also went into his neighbor's house and slept in an empty bedroom after he filmed the"One Night Stand" movie.

In 1999, he told the judge that, "It's like I've got a shotgun in my mouth, my finger on the trigger and I like the taste of gun metal," according to Los Angeles Times. At that time, the actor was sentenced to stay in prison for three years however, was released after a year.

Gov. Jerry Brown's office released a statement that the pardon will be given to  those "who have demonstrated exemplary behavior following their conviction," according to The Atlantic.

The actor had "lived an honest and upright life, exhibited good moral character, and conducted himself as a law-abiding citizen," the pardon statement continued.

It was reported that although the pardon issued by  Gov. Jerry Brown will not remove all criminal records, it will restore a person's right to vote and a proof to the public, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

It was put into records that the actor has stayed in prison for a total of 15 months and completed his parole in 2002.

Robert Downey Jr. revived his acting career in 2008 as the main actor named Tony Stark for Marvel's "Iron Man" movie.
