Sporting fans and the National Football League, as well, were able to preview the movie "Concussion" and how the film's reviews shed light on how Will Smith was conflicted with his role as the leading character. Moreover, filmmaker Peter Landesman defended his film from the controversy as he explained the truth behind the movie, according to sources.

The film "Concussion" has already received some positive reviews as director Peter Landesman dares to call out the National Football League for the apparent neglect of the organization in addressing the disturbing reality of risks that the players are exposed to and how it is covered up to its adoring fans, as reported by The Daily Beast.

As reviewed, the movie "Concussion" is set in 2005 where it follows Will Smith, who plays as the lead character Dr. Bennet Omalu, in his quest to inform the general public of his discovery regarding chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), a progressive degenerate disease found in American football players who've been constantly exposed to brain trauma.

Dr. Bennet Omalu is known as a forensic pathologist and neuropathologist who was threatened by the football organization when he tried to publicize his discovery of CTE cases found in numerous CAT scans of former NFL players, courtesy of the source.

The movie "Concussion" stars Will Smith, who was reported to have been conflicted with his role since he is known as a big fan of the sport and religiously supported his son playing high school football, as stated by EW.

"As a parent, the responsibility to bring this information to light was overwhelming," Smith explained as fatherhood triumphed over fandom, courtesy of the source. "I almost couldn't say no," he added.

In light of the movie "Concussion," former athletes are appealing to the organization's $1 billion plan to pay athletes suffering from diseases that were caused by the sport, which, however, excluded those afflicted with CTE, as stated by  Fox News.
