As the conflict continues over at Syria, the world has recently witnessed Russia's mark in its fight against IS (Islamic State formerly ISIS/ISIL) by deploying air strikes and utilizing its space power, with recent news on the opposition against terrorism unfolds, as stated by sources.

It was recently reported that Russia's fight against IS in Syria has led it to mobilize and position in Earth's orbit 10 satellites to spot targets, gather intelligence, map terrain, and relay radio signals between far-flung air, sea, and ground forces, according to The Daily Beast.

In addition, recent news about Russia's fight against ISIS in Syria indicated that a Russian Su-25 bomber deployed an airstrike that destroyed a "large base" of Islamic State in Idlib province, after Syrian opposition forces assisted the Russian military forces with the target's coordinates, as reported by RT.

This military tactic came shortly after Russia deployed its S-400 Surface-to-Air Missile batteries, which is the most advanced air defense systems currently operational, in Syria, succeeding the crash of a Russian Air Force Su-24M bomber by the Turkish Air Force over the Syrian border, as stated by the The Hindu.

While the S-400 would significantly boost its defensive perimeter over the Syrian airspace, the airstrike executed by the Russian Su-25 was also a major inclusion to the offensive capability of Russia in its fight against IS in the Middle East, according to the source.

"Today we are the only army in the world who in detail shows how and exactly with which Russian precise weapons from jets and warships we destroy terrorists' targets," Major General Igor Konashenkov told journalists in Syria, courtesy of RT.

However, some experts stated that the Russian airstrikes have actually given the IS an opening to make substantial gains near Azaz and advance toward Aleppo, as reported by the Business Insider.

As such, the latest news on the opposition against this terrorism had British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond commenting on Russia's continued focus on targeting most of its air strikes in Syria rather than Islamic State, as stated by Reuters.

"With our coalition partners including the United States, we will continue to urge the Russians at every opportunity to focus their fire solely on Daesh. It is unacceptable that Russian action is weakening the opposition and thus giving advantage to the very Daesh forces that they claim to be engaged against," Hammond said, courtesy of the source.
