ITZY ‘SNEAKERS’ MV Stuns Fans & Surpasses TWICE With ‘CHECKMATE’ Pre-Orders

On the 15th of July at 1 p.m. KST, ITZY released their new mini album "CHECKMATE" along with the MV for the title track "SNEAKERS." The title track is a song about following one's desires and ignoring what other people have to say.
MIDZYs are loving the MV for "SNEAKERS" as it highlights ITZY's visuals and talents while giving each member a chance to shine. As of writing this article, the MV for "SNEAKERS" ranks 8th on YouTube's trending for music.

But prior to its release, ITZY's "CHECKMATE" already made history as the girl group was able to garner an impressive amount of pre-orders with their recent album. Notably, only three K-Pop girl group albums have reached the same numbers in the previous years.
Also on the 15th of July, JYP Entertainment announced the number of pre-orders for ITZY's "CHECKMATE" via a press release. The agency revealed that "CHECKMATE" was able to reach a total of 720,665 pre-orders as of the afternoon of July 14.
The number marks ITZY's highest number of stock pre-orders in their career. It could also be highlighted that "CHECKMATE" is now the fourth K-Pop girl group album to garner 700,000 stock pre-orders.
The first three female K-Pop group albums to reach the milestone were aespa with "Girls," BLACKPINK with "THE ALBUM," and TWICE with "Formula of Love: O+T=<3."

Additionally, ITZY's "CHECKMATE" also surpasses TWICE's "Formula of Love." Their unnies were able to garner 700,000 pre-orders with their previous album while ITZY was able to reach 720,665 with "CHECKMATE."
It is the third-most pre-ordered album released from a JYP Entertainment artist (trailing behind Stray Kids' "ODDINARY" and "NOEASY") and the third-most pre-ordered K-Pop girl group album in history.
