‘The Adam Project’ Star Walker Scobell Cast As Percy Jackson For Upcoming Disney+ Live-Action Series
The breakout star of Netflix's The Adam Project, Walker Scobell, has been cast as the titular demigod Percy Jackson in the upcoming Disney+ live-action TV series.
Rick Riordan, the author of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, made the announcement on his website last Monday. Walker Scobell shone a fresh impression this year when he played Adam Reed, the 12-year old version of Ryan Reynold's Adam Reed character in the Netflix sci-fi adventure flick "The Adam Project."

"Walker Scobell is an incredibly talented young man who blew us away with his audition tapes for the role of Percy," Riordan wrote. "Many of you recently discovered how great Walker is when you watched his movie The Adam Project, in which Walker lit up the screen as a younger version of Ryan Reynolds' character. We were fortunate enough to audition Walker months before that movie came out, but the film only confirmed what we already knew about his talent.
"It was obvious to me and the rest of the team that Walker had the perfect mix of comedic timing, sweetness, rebelliousness, snark, and heroism to embody our hero Percy Jackson."
The author personally relayed the news to Scobell with his parents in the background last Jan. 28 via a Zoom call. He shared that the young actor is also a "super-fan of the books" having read everything through The Trials of Apollo.
During the call, despite being unaware of what the call was going to be about, the actor wore a Camp Half-Blood T-shirt. In the previous film, Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, Camp Half-Blood was the Greek demigod training facility where Percy and the children of deities harnessed and tested out their powers and abilities.

The author also confirmed that they are close to casting the other two leads for Annabeth, daughter of Athena, and Grover, a satyr. Both of whom are close friends and allies of Percy during his adventures.
Riordan has been updating fans for years with the developments of this new adaptation. It was announced this past January that the Percy Jackson show received a full series order.
The book series starts with The Lightning Thief, a tale about a young Percy Jackson discovering he's a demigod, being the son of the ancient Greek God of the Ocean, Poseidon. Zeus accuses him of stealing his original lightning bolt, which sets him and his friends on a journey across the United States to find the bolt and clear his name, facing a horde of mythological enemies along the way.
