Two years ago in 2020, Microsoft acquired ZeniMax, the parent company of Bethesda Softworks.

The acquisition cost Microsoft around $7.5 billion which made a lot of headlines. The acquisition also added to the perception that the tech giant is turning into a monopolist in the video game industry.

But everything was more clear when Microsoft recently went on to buy Activision Blizzard for $68.7 billion. Notably, Activision Blizzard is one of the largest game makers and producers in the world.

Fans and experts alike now believe that Microsoft is planning on being the largest monopoly in the history of not just video games, but technology as well. Regardless, Microsoft still has a lot of competition in the video gaming industry with a plethora of game studios and publishers.

But Microsoft is surely in the running to make a lot of money thanks to the wide spectrum of its intellectual property due to games such as Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, Overwatch and other titles that were under Activision Blizzard, but are now under Microsoft.

Among the best reasons why Microsoft acquired Activision Blizzard is the amount of future triple-A titles to be released via Microsoft's Game Pass on the very day the video games are released.

The ability to have Call of Duty released on day one due to being a Microsoft Game Pass subscriber is simply a dream for all video game fans out there.

The success Microsoft is set to have by bringing all new releases by studios under its belt to its Game Pass on day one, such as their already popular Halo Infinite, the Forza series, is simply almost set in stone.

Thus, for the perspective of gamers and investors who are interested in buying Microsoft stock, the acquisition of Activision Blizzard is truly an amazing move for Microsoft.
