Netflix Officially Confirms A Second Season For ‘Squid Game’!
Netflix's Co-CEO and Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos went on to announce the return of one of the most in demand K-dramas from Netflix. "Squid Game" is notably one of Netflix's most popular shows to date.
When asked if the "Squid game" would be returning for a second season, Ted Sarandos expressed, "Absolutely. The Squid Game universe has just begun."
The recent announcement, although just officially confirmed, is not a huge surprise for fans of the K-drama due to its popularity. A 2nd season is expected due to "Squid Game" becoming the most-streamed Netflix series to date in October with over 111 million viewers.
The popularity of Netflix's "Squid Game" overcame the streaming service's previous most-watched series, "Bridgerton," which went behind by a huge 29 million viewers.
Netflix's 1st season of "Squid Game" even went on to be ranked in Netflix's Top 10 in all 94 regions that have the rating system.
Furthermore, the creator of "Squid Game" has not been reserved about the potential upcoming seasons for the series. Director Hwang Dong-hyuk expressed his plans for a 2nd season of Netflix's "Squid Game."
"So there's been so much pressure, so much demand and so much love for a second season. So I almost feel like you leave us no choice. But I will say there will indeed be a second season. It's in my head right now. I'm in the planning process currently. But I do think it's too early to say when and how that's going to happen," Hwang Dong-hyuk of "Squid Game" added.
