PlayStation spokesperson and President of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.'s Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida confirmed an official application for "Remote Play" support on Mac and PC is in progress, according to Polygon.

Users can stream games from console to screen over an Internet connection, in a different location, when using "Remote Play."

This news is part of the company's efforts to spread its videogame network beyond its own gaming devices, reported WSJ. Yoshida tweeted about it, Friday.

The announcement follows Windows 10's release this summer, which had a feature to stream games from Xbox One to the new Microsoft operating system.

PS4 "Remote Play" is currently supported through the medium of PlayStation Micro TV console and handheld PlayStation Vita. Both the addition of PC and Mac OS support would extend the feature's efficiency.

Twisted, an application developer, did not wait for Sony. The developer created a workaround called, PS4 "Remote Play" PC and was launched, Wednesday.

"The only way to support this is to charge for the app, all my previous projects have been free and I don't want to have to but sadly it's [sic] the only way to support my living costs," said Twisted in a blog post. PS4 "Remote Play" PC costs around $10, revealed PC.

The unofficial app's release prompted inquiries of Yoshida and in turn, responded with a low-key reveal.

PlayStation's spokesperson did not provide details on "Remote Play's" release, or if the feature would work over the Internet and whether or not the streaming is limited to your in-home network.

According to the Japanese company, PlayStation 4 is the fastest selling video game console ever with 30.2 million units sold.
