TAEYEON

2021 has almost ended, and fans of K-pop have had an amazing year as multiple K-pop artists released a plethora of quality K-pop songs. But the artists that stood out this year were the female K-pop idols, even more so the female soloists.

This year was the year that girls ruled the world as a myriad of female K-pop soloists showed up and slayed!

Thus, in no specific order, here are a few of the best musical releases by female K-pop soloists for 2021:

Girls' Generation's (SNSD) Taeyeon - "Weekend"

Taeyeon's most recent release is considered chill by most fans as the serene vibe is constant. This is a perfect song to jam to if you're taking a break and the cherry on top was Taeyeon's silky sweet vocals.

(G)I-DLE's Soyeon - "BEAM BEAM"

One of the most decorated soloists in the K-pop industry, Soyeon showed up and truly showed fans how amazing she really is with "BEAM BEAM." Fans were introduced to Windy, Soyeon's more chill alter-ego, and now it seems as though they can not get enough of her.

Somi - "XOXO"

Soloist Jeon Somi truly came to flex her talent as a soloist with her first-ever studio album, most evidently with her title track "XOXO." Fans enjoyed the music video of the song as Somi showed how mature she is now compared to her early days as a K-pop idol.

Chungha - "Killing Me"

"Killing Me," a track about chasing something that is no longer there, is one of Chungha's best releases and fans could not help but agree that not only did she bring something new to the table, but Chungha also made clear that she still has her patented charisma.

BLACKPINK's Lisa - "LALISA"

Making her highly-awaited debut as a soloist, BLACKPINK's Lisa was nothing short of incredible with her "LALISA" debut track. Fans were amazed as Lisa chose the unique route by paying homage to her Thai heritage, evident in the MV and the beats of her solo song.

MAMAMOO's Hwasa - "I'm a 빛" aka "I'm a B"

The maknae of MAMAMOO has been dropping bombs since her solo debut and "I'm a B" is one of Hwasa's most explosive releases yet. The 'B' stands for 'badass,' and she embodied that persona in her MV.

IU - "strawberry moon"

IU never fails to impress and "strawberry moon" is no exception. The MV not only has amazing visuals for both IU and her set, but her melodic vocals were also evident as fans truly fell in love with the soloist over and over again.
