BTS's Leader RM, shared, "We'd like to thank Variety for this amazing honour. Butter holds a very special place in our heart."
As per BTS, RM noted that during these uncertain and troubled times with the COVID-19 pandemic, the members took time to look back on their past and present and decided to release "Butter" to lift the spirits of people in general.
BTS's RM continued that the song became an anchor for BTS to enjoy what they can now and keep moving forward. They just finished their first in-person concert, something they have been waiting for in two years, especially since the COVID-19 pandemic, and for them, it feels like the beginning of their new chapter.
BTS's maknae Jungkook then shared that it meant a lot to them that "Butter" is being recognized as record of the year. The K-pop group just wanted to share fun and positive energy with the people, and that is what "Butter" is to them.
Congratulations to BTS!
