Samuel Kim Wins Lawsuit Against Brave Entertainment After 3 Years Of Legal Battle
After three long years of the court battle, former 1PUNCh member and "Produce 101 Season 2" contestant Samuel Kim wins the lawsuit against former label Brave Entertainment.
On November 17, Chief Judge Lee Gwan Yong of Division 25 of the Civil Settlement of the Seoul Central District Court ruled in favor of the plaintiff in a lawsuit filed by Samuel Kim against Brave Entertainment.
The court also dismissed the counteraction filed by Brave Entertainment.
"We confirm that the exclusive contract concluded between the plaintiff [Samuel Kim] and the defendant [Brave Entertainment] on June 9, 2014, is not valid, and dismiss the counterclaim request of the defendant," the Court ordered.

Samuel Kim debuted as the other half of the duo 1PUNCH in 2015 through Brave Entertainment which is led by popular producers Brave Brothers. After that, he appeared in Mnet's "Produce 101 Season 2" in 2017 and made his name known for his outstanding skills.
However, in 2019, Brave Entertainment filed a lawsuit while raising issues such as the settlement process, and the agency counter-litigated (countersuit accusing Samuel Kim of refusing to perform activities without a justifiable reason and that the company suffered losses.
Immediately after the verdict, Samuel Kim stated, "I couldn't do anything because of a long court battle for three years, but I'm very happy that the verdict came out. I told the truth, and the truth worked. I would like to thank the fans and acquaintances who waited for a long time, supported me, and felt sorry for me."
Meanwhile, Samuel Kim shared the great news to his fans through his personal Instagram page, saying, "Thank you very much to all Garnets [fans] who prayed for me, believed in me, and waited for me. How can I not put it into words... Heaven is on my side. It's all thanks to you."
