Previously, it was reported that tvN is working on a new drama that is set to air later this year. According to reports, tvN's upcoming drama will have the working title "Twenty Five Twenty One" and is scheduled to premiere on December 27.
Most recently, an industry insider shared that WJSN member Bona is cast for the drama. In an official statement, WJSN Bona's agency King Kong by Starship confirmed that the idol-actress is starring in the upcoming tvN drama "Twenty Five Twenty One."
The WJSN member is said to portray the role of a national fencing team athlete Go Yoo Rim. Her ultimate goal is to win an Olympic gold medal. Meanwhile, Goo Yoo Rim's main rival will be the female lead Na Hee Do, a fencing prodigy and a gold medalist.
The actress who will portray Na Hee Do isn't confirmed yet. However, previous reports point out that "Space Sweepers" star Kim Tae Ri is in talks to get the role. If Kim Tae Ri accepts the role as Na Hee Do, it will be her second main role in a K-drama after playing Go Ae Shin in "Mr. Sunshine."
On the other hand, "Start-Up" star Nam Joo Hyuk is offered to take on the lead male role Baek Yi Jin. Nam Joo Hyuk's character is a UBS sports reporter who lands a job for the Asian Games where he will meet the fencing prodigy Na Hee Do.
The drama "Twenty Five Twenty One" is written by Kwon Do Eun who is also behind the drama "Search: WWW." It will be Kwon Do Eun's second time working with director Jung Ji Hyun. Aside from "Search: WWW," director Jung Ji Hyun's most notable drama is "The King: Eternal Monarch" starring Lee Min Ho and Kim Go Eun.
