On the morning of June 27, Inspirits received the news that the leader of the K-Pop boy group, INFINITE, tested positive for the coronavirus. Read through the article to learn more about Infinite Sunggyu's situation.

Sunggyu is starring in the upcoming musical "Gwanghwamun Sonata 2021." This time, Sunggyu will be taking the challenge of leading the musical after being chosen to be one of the three actors who will portray the lead role of Myungwoo. The INFINITE leader and main vocalist will play the title role alongside Yoon Do Hyun and Um Ki Joon.

"Gwanghwamun Sonata 2021" is set to open from July 16 until September 5. As the day of the premier approaches, preparations are in order, and the current state of things amidst the ongoing pandemic, measures concerning health and safety are much tighter.

Meanwhile, aside from following the protocols, Kim Sunggyu has also received the Janssen vaccine on June 10. Additionally, Kim Sunggyu went through his weekly coronavirus swab test on the same day. Unfortunately, however, the singer received the sad news that he is positive for COVID-19 on June 27.

In an official statement, Kim Sunggyu's new agency Double H TNE shared that the idol is currently asymptomatic and is showing no symptoms. Moreover, Double H TNE announced that Kim Sunggyu will be following the protocols set by the quarantine authorities and therefore will be halting all scheduled activities.

"Kim Sunggyu will be halting all his activities and follow quarantine authorities' instructions. Relevant staff and close contact staff will be self-isolated as they wait for their results. We will actively adhere to government policy and do our best to manage the quarantine and our artists," Double H TNE announced in the official statement.

Earlier this month, it was reported that Sunggyu left his former agency Woollim Entertainment to join SG Wannabe's Kim Yong Joon's Double H TNE. The agency is a subsidiary of global IT company NHN and MLD Entertainment.
