The COVID-19 pandemic has been a huge setback to plans that were supposed to be in 2020 and 2021. But as 2021 enters its 2nd half, most countries are slowly recovering from the pandemic. Some countries have even opened their borders once again.

With this news, will South Koreans be able to revel in the performance of their favorite K-pop groups and idols in live concerts soon?

For a while now, South Korea has removed its ban on outdoor activities such as sports events. Koreans can now freely enjoy basketball, football, baseball, and many more for as long as they follow the right protocols. Thus, netizens and K-pop fans might enjoy live concerts soon.

Reportedly, starting on the 14th of June, events on baseball stadiums and soccer fields will be allowed to have more audiences. Multiple South Korean cities are stated at a 1.5 level in terms of social distancing, which means 50% of the maximum attendance is allowed.

Other cities still have level 2 social distancing rules which only allow 30%. Thus, some concert venues will be allowed to have up to 4000 attendees. One of the most used concert venues, Jamsil Arena in Seoul allows at most 11,000 attendees.

This was announced on the 11th of June by the South Korean Government. Major cities are still going to have social distancing measures of level 2 and other smaller cities will be allowed to have a 1.5 level.

With regards to private gatherings, it is still limited to at most 5 people up until the 4th of July.

Slowly but surely, social distancing measures will be at least pushed to a seating capacity of 70% for the smaller cities, and cities that are metropolitan will maintain a seating capacity of 50%.

Regardless, social distancing rules will still be strictly followed. Masks are still required alongside the two-meter distance rule between people.

Moreover, the South Korean government will be sending their staff to multiple venues to make sure all measures for safety are followed and can be followed.

In the meantime, online concerts and fan meetings are enough to keep fans and their favorite K-pop idols in a safe interaction.
