Ellen DeGeneres announced in an episode of her over 3,000-episode talk show that she will end her daytime talk show after the upcoming 19th season next year.

"If you're a creative guy, you deserve to be tested all the time. "As good as this program is and as entertaining as it is, it's no longer a challenge," DeGeneres said in the interview.

After its inception in 2003, "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" has received more than 60 Emmy awards. Warner Bros., a division of AT&T Inc, produces the show, which is syndicated to television stations.

DeGeneres began her career in stand-up comedy in her hometown of New Orleans before switching to television in the mid-1990s to star in the comedy "Ellen."

Years before gay people were welcomed in mainstream America, she and her TV character came out as lesbians in 1997. A year later, "Ellen" was canceled, but DeGeneres went on to host a talk show in 2003.

On her lighthearted broadcasts, DeGeneres became known for encouraging empathy and tolerance as a spokesperson for animals, gay rights, and anti-bullying efforts. However, since 2020, there have been increasing revelations on how working for the talk show was a hostile work environment with sexual allegations. Three executive producers left the show, with DeGeneres herself apologizing to the public because of the publicity it received.

Ellen DeGeneres is sticking to her guns, saying she's leaving "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" not because of last summer's poisonous office controversy but because it's time for her to move on.

DeGeneres mentioned that her hopes for the future remain unclear. She expressed interest in film roles and mentioned that she would like to be more interested in environmental conservation activities.

In addition to her talk show, the actress played the forgetful blue fish in the films "Finding Nemo" and "Finding Dory," as well as hosting the Academy Awards twice.
