'PayDay 2' New Microtransactions Issues Addressed By Developers; Asks Help From Top Modders
Amid "PayDay 2's" new microtransaction issues, Overkill, the game developer, issued an apology addressed to the fans of the game, according to IGN.
A few weeks ago Overkill Software suddenly announced that "PayDay 2" was going to have a microtransaction feature. Many players expected that the game will stay free from this feature and that is why a lot of them got angry with this announcement. Overkill Software then announced that the items that were featured in the microtransaction feature can be obtained via drops in the game.
Some players were satisfied with that update, but there are others who had an issue with the microtransaction feature.
Today, Overkill Software finally released an apology with regard to "PayDay 2's" new microtransactions which were implemented a few weeks ago, according to sources. Many Steam members gave negative responses to the new feature and the volunteer Steam forum moderators went on a strike, according to Game Zone.
"The past few weeks have been some of the most challenging in the history of this community..," said Overkill Software on a statement on Steam. "Players have been angry with us, media have written about us en masse and our volunteer moderators went on strike."
"For all the distress we've caused the past few weeks, I'd just like to take the time and say that we're sorry," continued the statement. "We've done a lot of things right in the past, but these past few weeks we screwed up."
Along with the statement was a video that showed the conversation between them and three volunteer mods that went on a strike.
Overkill Software has also arranged a meeting with "PayDay 2's" top modders and assigned eight Overkill Software developers. This meeting is to prepare the group to engage actively with the community in the Steam forums which will start next week. This is an attempt to settle the issue with "PayDay 2's" new microtransactions, according to PC Gamer.
