"Afro Samurai 2" has been cancelled by the game developer, according to Siliconera.

The game was released back in September for PC and PlayStation 4. The Xbox One version was supposed to be released in October. There were even two volumes to be released in the future with additional content.

However, many gaming sites gave it a low rating due to the overall performance of the game from gameplay to story, according to sources. Many fans "hated" the game controls, camera, cut-scenes, quick-time events and many more. The Steam comment section was also riddled with down-votes all over.

The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One listings of "Afro Samurai 2," which was a hack-and-slash game, have been erased. A player could not browse the game in the listing of his or her favorite digital console marketplace, according to Eurogamer.net.

The game developer, Versus Evil, has cancelled volume 2 and volume 3, and will be giving refunds to players who already own the game, according to Gamespot.

"The game was a failure," admitted Steve Escalante, the general manager of Versus Evil, in an interview. "We could not do, in good conscience, volume 2 and volume 3."

"So we've begun the process, it's been a long process to figure it out because Sony has never really had to do this in this way, but we're returning all the money," continued Escalante. "So across the board we're putting out an apology saying sorry about this.'"

Versus Evil has not given any details if "Afro Samurai 2" will be coming back sometime in the future, according to sources.

"We're Versus Evil," said Escalante. "Now we have to do it from a consumer perspective. So we pulled it down, because we didn't want to exacerbate it anymore and then we're refunding the money."
