North Korea Announced Submarine-launched Ballistic Missiles at Military Parade

North Korea announced its new Submarine-launched ballistic missile during its military parade. The parade was held to celebrate the Eight Worker's Party Congress's conclusion, and North Korea's elite discussed the successes and failures of the past years and made a new plan for the near future.

According to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), the first image was released by a thousand people and soldiers at a night-time military parade in Pyongyang (North Korea's Capital). In the image release, Kim Jong Un, the supreme leader of North Korea, was seen gesturing toward the crowd.

As the highlight of the event, the new Submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) was shown off. Also, there is an apparent new short-range ballistic missile that runs on solid fuel. This new short-range ballistic missile is the submarine counterpart. It can fire solid-fueled missiles on shorter notice than liquid-fueled counterparts. Within those announcements, the Korea Central News Agency (KCNA) declared that the Submarine-launched ballistic missile was the "world's most powerful weapon."

The main focus of the Eight Congress was North Korea's urgent economic situation. The COVID-19 pandemic, sanctions, and natural disasters have put Kim Jung Un's long-stated goal to improve all North Koreans' living standards upside down. However, the urgent outlook does not affect Pyongyang's ambitious and expensive plans to develop weapons even though it has limited resources.

According to the Analyst, Kim Jong Un's objectives and the missiles are put on display because it is a worrying sign for the future of any possible disarmament talks between Pyongyang and the new President of the United States (President Joe Biden). However, some analysts were inspired by the fact that North Korea did not show off its intercontinental ballistic missiles designed to send nuclear weapons across the planet, particularly in the United States.

According to the Supreme Leader of North Korea, Kim Jung Un, it doesn't matter who the United States president is. The true nature and true spirit of anti-North Korea policy will never change. He also said that It would push the development of nuclear weapons forward without interruption, according to Ankit Panda, a senior fellow at the Carnegie Endowments for International Peace and an expert in North Korea's nuclear program.

Kim Jung Un continues to show the world that despite North Korea's economic difficulties over the years, the focus of sustaining nuclear forces and modernizing conventional weaponry has not shifted. He also said that the Submarine-launched ballistic missile displayed was the evidence of North Korea's growing sophistication with extensive solid propellants based ballistic missiles.
