The new Gellert Grindelwald has been confirmed. Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen will now be playing the titular character after Johnny Depp was fired from the movie by Warner Bros due to his legal troubles.

The actor lost his libel lawsuit against British tabloid The Sun. The newspaper was the one that claimed Depp was abusive toward his wife actress, Amber Heard. Recently, his appeal for libel was also denied, with High Court judge Andrew Nicol saying that what the tabloid claimed was essentially true. While this may be a setback, Depp still has a chance to have the decision to be overturned, this tie by going straight to the Court of Appeal.

Meanwhile, following the news of Mikkelsen taking over the role originated by the "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor, many of Johnny's fans expressed their anger at the news. They believe that Johnny is not capable of what he is being accused of. They cited much evidence that pointed to Heard being the abuser in the relationship, not the other way around. Some fans are even calling for a boycott of the "Fantastic Beasts 3" movie.

While some fans are angry, others still welcome the casting of Mikkelsen to the role as they claim that he is a great actor. The Danish actor has had some iconic roles, including playing the villain in the James Bond film "Casino Royale" and as Dr. Hannibal Lecter in the series "Hannibal". He has also many awards and nominations. His role in the Danish movie "The Hunt" has garnered him the award for Best Actor in the 2012 Cannes Film Festival.

Meanwhile the third "Fantastic Beasts" movie's release has been set to July 2022. It was originally supposed to be shown by November of next year. But due to the casting change and the coronavirus pandemic, it had to be pushed back.
