'JAG' Fans Suspect CBS Is Teasing A Reboot; Catherine Bell Reuniting With David James Elliott On 'NCIS: Los Angeles' Season 10
A reboot of a fan-favorite military drama, JAG, could be brewing and fans are suspecting that CBS could be already testing the water for the possible return of the TV series. The speculations emerged after it was confirmed that JAG actress Catherine Bell is joining co-star David James Elliott in the upcoming episodes of NCIS: Los Angeles Season 10.
Bell's wish did come true. In a recent interview with TVLine, the Good Witch actress admitted that she wishes to slip back into military uniform and play her famous character, Lieutenant Colonel Sarah "Mac" MacKenzie, once again.
"We've talked about it forever. I would love to put on my old uniform and show up .... That would be really fun," she said.
Bell will bring Mac back on small screen to join Navy Captain Harmon Rabb Jr. (Elliott) in helping out NCIS LA. CBS and Elliott himself earlier confirmed his multi-episode arc appearance in NCIS: Los Angeles. The actor shared on Instagram a photo of him with Chris O'Donnell (Agent G. Callen) and LL Cool J (Agent Sam Hanna) aboard an aircraft carrier.
In the upcoming NCIS: Los Angeles episode, the team tries to uncover a network of ISIS sympathizers who is planning to launch an attack on US aircraft carriers. Rabb, who is now XO of the USS Intrepid, will work with Callen and Sam to prevent the attack. Meanwhile, Hetty (Linda Hunt) will reach out to an old friend, Lieutenant Colonel Sarah "Mac" MacKenzie, to help get access to an elusive Russian diplomat.
Elliott will debut in the series on the May 12 episode. There have been reports that Elliot will appear in a total of four episodes: two this season and two more in Season 11. Reports also indicate that Mac will appear in NCIS: Los Angeles Season 10 finale episode that is set to air on May 19.
So far, Elliott and Bell will only be returning for several episodes for NCIS: Los Angeles. However, the possibility of JAG revival could not be dismissed as reboots of past hit TV shows are the trend right now and fans would certainly want to see that.
"Two of the best TV characters of all time. Their chemistry was off the charts. I would LOVE a JAG reprisal series," one fan commented.
Now that Mac is confirmed to join Rabb in helping the NCIS HQ in the West Coast, the cliffhanger in JAG series finale episode will finally have an answer. Did Rabb and Mac get married? If not, do they remain as friends?
Elliott and Bell are not the first cast member of JAG who appeared on a TV series that spawned from their show. Captain Bud Roberts (Patrick Labyorteaux) was seen in several episodes of NCIS from 2013 to 2018.
