It's been two years since the last K-drama of Korean singer-actor Yook Sungjae and it will take longer before his fans could see his acting again. This is because the BTOB member will no longer be part of the upcoming tvN fantasy drama Man Who Bakes Bread.

Reports indicate that Sungjae has stepped down from playing the lead role in the series but the production of the K-drama will continue. According to multiple media reports, a source from tvN has already confirmed that Sungjae will no longer star in Man Who Bakes Bread.

So far, the production team has yet to announce on who will replace the Goblin actor. Apparently, the show is currently in the middle of casting while the production crew of JTBC's hit series SKY Castle has also joined the team.

Man Who Bakes Bread is based on a popular webtoon. It tells the story of a cat, who can transform into a human, and his owner. Sungjae was offered to play the role of Hong Jo, the cat who becomes human and lives a double life in order to stay with his owner.

The Ghost Detective actress Park Eun Bin and Prison Playbook actor Seo Ji Hoon have also been reportedly in negotiation to star in the K-drama. 100 Days My Prince director Lee Jong Jae will lead the production of the series along written by Joo Hwa Mi of Marriage, Not Dating. Man Who Bakes Bread is slated to premiere in the first half of 2019.

It is unclear why Sungjae decided not to continue with the series. Man Who Bakes Bread could have been Sungjae's comeback K-drama. He last appeared in 2016 hit K-drama Guardian: The Lonely and Great God. The series gave him a Best New Actor award from the 10th Korea Drama Awards.

BTOB has yet to announce if the remaining members will be making a comeback anytime soon. So far, three idols of the seven-member group have started their military service.

BTOB has released their latest special album titled Hour Moment in November 2018. The group is set to celebrate their seventh anniversary on March 21. There will be an exhibition of the group's behind-the-scenes photos from March 7 to March 24 at the Seouliteum to celebrate their anniversary.
