Hallyu A-List Actors Gong Yoo & Park Bo Gum Confirmed To Team Up In Upcoming Movie About Human Cloning
The much-awaited tandem on Korean movie is finally happening. Park Bo Gum has finally said "yes" to star in the upcoming movie Seo Bok alongside Gong Yoo.
Fans of both Hallyu A-list actors have been waiting for confirmation for months if the team up is really happening. Gong Yoo had accepted to play a lead role in Seo Bok in August 2018 while and director Lee Yong Ju has been trying to cast Park Bo Gum for the titular character.
The role of Seo Bok was first offered to Park in 2017 but the Encounter actor declined the offer. Apparently, Lee, who also helmed Architecture 101, had made several revisions on the film's scenario in hopes to change Park's mind.
Seo Bok is based on the legendary story of ancient Chinese voyager Xu Fu. The movie, however, will be told in a modern-day setting.
It will tell the story of a former intelligence agent, Ki Heon (Gong), and first human clone, Seo Bok (Park), who possess the secret for eternal life. The two cross path and will be caught up in a dangerous chase as several forces are out on a mission to possess the first human clone to uncover the secret to eternal life.
Reports indicate that the filming for the action thriller movie is slated to commence in April. So far, the production has yet to announce the other cast members of the film.
Meanwhile, fans have already expressed their excitement over the upcoming movie. Some also jokingly said having a cloned Park Bo Gum is the best thing that could happen in a movie and in real life.
Anticipation is high for Seo Bok as it is the first film that Gong Yoo and Park Bo Gum will work together. Additionally, Seo Bok is the comeback project to two of the finest actors of the Korean entertainment industry. Gong was last seen in Age of Shadow in 2016 while Park's last movie was the critically-acclaimed Coin Locker Girl in 2015.
Moreover, Gong and Park have already said that they will be more particular in the role that they will portray next. The Coffee Prince actor had told CNN's Talk Asia that he is now less focus on the roles he needed to play as he is more interested in projects that have promising stories.
Park, on the other hand, recently said he would like to play a character that is a complete opposite of his Encounter character Kim Jin Hyuk. The Love In The Moonlight actor also revealed that he wants to portray the character of a psychopath once again.
