'This Is Us' Season 3 Actor Sterling K. Brown Teases More 'Intense' & 'Sad' Flash-Forward Scenes Coming Up

The Pearson family has more stories to tell from the past and in the future. In fact, cast member Sterling K. Brown has warned This Is Us fans to be prepared for more intense and sad flash-forward scenes that might require viewers to replenish their Kleenex stock.

In the recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Brown gave a little hint on what viewers may expect in the upcoming episodes. He revealed that there will be more intense and sad future scenes of the family, particularly about Rebecca (Mandy Moore).

As This Is Us viewers may recall, it was revealed in the midseason finale of the NBC series that the "her" Randall (Sterling K. Brown) and adult Tess have been talking about is actually Rebecca. The fans also learned that the family is set to gather together to visit Rebecca.

In this week's episode, however, Rebecca only appeared once. It was at Randall's campaign headquarter during the election day. It can be assumed that This Is Us may be prepping for a big Rebecca story in the upcoming episode.

In Episode 9, the Pearson family is gathering to visit old Rebecca. Sterling was asked how serious is the situation where the family is heading into, the actor said its intense.

"It's an intense situation that is shrouded in sadness. It's a rough thing that people are coming together for," he hinted.

Meanwhile, although Randall and Beth (Susan Kelechi Watson) patched things up in the recent episode, it seems there still be tension between the two. Randall won the election and becomes the 12th District's new city councilman.

Sterling was asked about Randall and Beth's marital status in the future. Sterling refused to divulge information but said the two always and will never stop loving each other. It could mean that the couple is already divorce in the future.

After he won the election, Randall could have suggested to his family to move closer to his constitutes to avoid the two-hour commute to his district. Beth could possibly shut down the idea and from then onwards, there will be more arguments between the two.

This Is Us will take a week break and will air Episode 11 on January 22. In the upcoming episode, the Randall, Kevin (Justin Hartley), and Kate (Chrissy Metz) be paying their presumed dead Uncle Nicky (Griffin Dunne) a visit.
