Missing Washington College Student Face Criminal Charges; Eastern Shore School Shut Down!
Washington College police and officers have now shared new details in the case of a missing student that shut down the Eastern Shore school for the past two days, according to the Baltimore Sun.
19-year old Marberger, was initially considered a missing person but police disclosed Tuesday, that he is facing criminal charges because of an Oct. 9 incident.
Authorities are trying to find Jacob Marberger since parents called college officials early Monday.
Jacob's parents reported that the sophomore left their home in Pennsylvania with a gun and that he could not be reached, revealed the Washington Post.
Marberger was a leader in student government on campus. He was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity and a speaker of the senate.
In October, he got in trouble for allegedly swinging around a handgun while drunk at his fraternity house.
Marberger was suspended from school for a week and a half after an investigation by campus police and returned to his home in Philadelphia.
Jacob was kicked out of his fraternity because of the incident. He resigned his office with the student government association, facing a possible expulsion.
The new information came as the college evacuated students and announced the campus would be closed Wednesday. This is the third straight day without classes.
Washington College says it has not received any direct threats against the campus, reported 6ABC.
The school said that by the end of the day, arrangements will be made to house a small group of remaining students in the community.
Cheltenham High School was put on lockout Monday as a precaution. This is where Marberger was once a student.
Authorities are conducting a high-intensity search.
