Hallyu Star Suzy In Talks To Play Love Interest Of 'Along With The Gods' Actor Ha Jung Woo In Upcoming Movie
Fans of Korean star Suzy might see her again on the big screen. The actress/singer is currently in negotiation to star in a star-studded movie, tentatively titled Mount Baekdu, along with Korean actors Ha Jung Woo and Lee Byung Hun.
Suzy's agency JYP Entertainment has confirmed that the Hallyu celebrity has received an offer to play a major role in the movie. However, Suzy hasn't said yes to the project and JYP Entertainment added that it is just one of the projects that While You Were Sleeping star is reviewing right now.
The upcoming film is about the members of the safety and rescue response teams of both South and North Korea as Baekdu Mountain threatens to erupt and cause mass destruction to both countries. If Suzy accepts the offer, she will be playing the role of the wife of Ha Jung Woo's character who is a member of the South Korean team.
Mr. Sunshine actor Lee Byung Hun will portray the role of a North Korean agent trying to stop the eruption. Train To Busan star Ma Dong Seok has been cast as a scientist while actress Jeon Hye Jin is also reportedly taking the character of a South Korean government official.
Mount Baekdu will be produced by Kim Yong Hwa, who is also the producer and director of Along With The Gods films. It will be helmed by A Hard Day director Lee Hae Joon and Kim Byung Seo, who also worked with Kim Yong Hwa in the Along With The Gods. Reports indicate that the filming schedule of Mount Baekdu is set in early 2019.
Mount Baekdu could be Suzy's comeback in the big screen. Her last movie was the period drama The Sound of a Flower in 2015. It is based on the life of Jin Chae Seon, Joseon's first female pansori singer in 1867.
For the meantime, fans of Suzy can watch her next in the upcoming K-drama Vagabond. The TV series is about a stuntman, Cha Gun (Lee SeungGi), whose dream is to become a world famous action actor. He survives a plane crash that also changes his life. He uncovers a conspiracy behind the plane crash and digs up a national corruption case.
Bae Suzy plays the role of an ordinary NIS agent but later on becomes a covert operative. The K-drama started filming in June in Korea and other overseas locations such as Portugal and Morocco. Vagabond is expected to be released early next year.
