BLACKPINK member Jennie is indeed shining as a solo. Her first ever solo single achieved an "all-kill" success in less than 12 hours of its release on November 12.

Jennie's debut solo track, titled "Solo," topped seven music charts in South Korea: Melon, Mnet, Genie Music, Bugs, and Olleh Music. Additionally, the song also peaked at No. 1 in worldwide iTunes song charts on Monday. Jennie's "Solo" bumped Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper's "Shallow" to second place and Ariana Grande's "Thank You, Next" on No. 3.

In her message to her fans, Jennie thank all BLACKPINK's fans who supported her. The singer said fans will see she a different side of her in "Solo" music video comparison when she is with BLACKPINK.

The "Solo" MV features Jennie as she transforms from an innocent lady to an independent and charismatic woman. As of writing, the music video for the song already garnered nearly 12 million views on YouTube. The lyrics of "Solo" was written by Teddy, a long-time producer at YG Entertainment, and it was co-composed by Teddy and 24.

In an earlier press conference for her solo debut, the 22-year-old singer explained how her track was made. She revealed that it was all by chance. Jennie said she just recorded a song that Teddy wanted her to sing. The song is perfect for Jennie hence they decided to make it her first ever solo track.

"If I were to draw a comparison to promotions with BLACKPINK, it's that I tried to portray myself in a more detailed way. Even in just the teasers, there are a variety of outfits and concepts. [My solo] will be a chance for people to get to know me better," Jennie said about the MV.

The singer added that the people behind "Solo" made sure that they took consideration in showcasing her personality and what she is good at in conceptualizing the track. Jennie added that what she wanted to do as an independent artist was also taken into account.

As a result, Jennie indeed "shining as solo" like what she stressed in her own track. The singer debuted "Solo" at BLACKPINK's first solo concert in Seoul over the weekend.

Meanwhile, BLACKPINK members Lisa, Jisoo, and Rose are expected to debut their own solo track soon. YG Entertainment earlier confirmed that all members of the group will have their respective solo songs and Jennie is the one who will first release her own track.
