Michael Schumacher’s Health Update: How Is Formula One Star Doing After Ski Accident?
Michael Schumacher’s condition has remained a mystery after his family suddenly asked for privacy despite being very open about his accident in the beginning. This sudden change of heart started speculations that the Formula One legend’s recovery might be bleak. So how is he doing now?
The 49-year-old retired German race driver suffered a severe head injury on December 29, 2013, after his unfortunate accident at the French Alps. Although the incident, and Michael Schumacher’s health status at the time, was never hidden from the public, his family eventually asked fans and the media to respect their privacy.
The sports community has been desperate to get updates regarding Michael Schumacher’s health, but nothing much was said about it. Although the German racer’s family and friends tried to keep their silence as long as possible, false reports were circulating online regarding Michael Schumacher’s health that left them with no choice but to address the wrong information.
Earlier reports had suggested that the Formula One legend was showing encouraging signs. However, family and friends revealed that his battle is certainly far from over and that there is absolutely no truth to the claim. In fact, when his manager Sabine Kehm was asked about the F1 star’s current condition, she said that “Michael’s health is not a public issue, and therefore we will not comment on it.”
It has been previously reported that Michael Schumacher was placed in a medically induced coma after the skiing accident, which lasted for six months. Now, reports revealed that the F1 legend is staying in a state of the art hospital near his home in Lake Geneva. The retired racing driver’s treatment reportedly costs £115,000 per week with 15 physicians and nurses attending to his needs 24 hours a day.
