'Goblin 2' Update: Gong Yoo Hinted At The Possibility Of Reprising His Role As Kim Shin
In spite of revealing last year that Goblin 2 won't happen, Gong Yoo now expressed his interest to reprise his role as Kim Shin in the series if tvN plans to make the second installment. While promoting Asus ZenFone 5 in Taipei, Taiwan, the 38-year-old star talked about the possibility of appearing in the show if ever it happens.
"There's no reason why I wouldn't do it (if given an offer)," Gong Yoo told an MC, who asked if he has plans to be a part of Goblin 2 if tvN intends to do it, per AllKpop. Though, the Train to Busan star explained that the network probably doesn't have any means to make a sequel.
But if it tvN plans to do Goblin 2, the big question is—will it offer him to reprise his role? The MC then affirmed that Gong Yoo is irreplaceable. So, there is no doubt that the network will ask him to reprise his role.
To recall, in 2017, Gong Yoo shut down the rumors that there will be Goblin 2. "Some stories are always better to end as it is," he said in a tweet, per Korea Portal. To make hopeful fans feel better, he just said that the fantasy series' writers would be creating other fantasy stories just like Goblin. He also asked their supporters to continuously support Kim Eun Sook and her future projects.
The rumors about the making of Goblin 2 continue as its first season ended with an open ending. Kim Shin was already united to his bride, but fans can't help but expect to see Gong Yoo once again as the goblin.
In other news, Gong Yoo successfully joined the rankings of the top male endorsement models for the month of June in Korea when it comes to brand values. The Korea Reputation Center revealed the results that were collected from May 21 to June 22.
