In the world of television, some deaths are never permanent. After all, several characters have been resurrected in their respective TV shows. However, this isn't the case with Linda Reagan, who was killed off after Blue Bloods Season 7. But is it possible that the real reason why Danny Reagan's wife has not been brought back is that Amy Carlson is still in a feud with CBS over Linda's clumsy exit? It has just been revealed that Blue Bloods Season 9 will not feature Carlson despite the persistent fan demand to bring the actress back.

Amy Carlson's departure has undoubtedly been a sore spot for Blue Bloods Season 8. After all, fans were unhappy that Linda Reagan was unceremoniously killed offscreen in a horrible helicopter accident. Although Carlson had already expressed interest in returning to give her character a proper exit, CBS has not attempted to invite the actress back throughout the eighth season. So is there any chance that things will go differently in Blue Bloods Season 9? Kevin Wade insists that people should move on and focus on the remaining characters in the series.

The showrunner recently spoke to TVLine about the possibility of Linda Reagan making an appearance in Blue Bloods Season 9. Kevin Wade stated that the show has "never done flashbacks" and is highly unlikely to begin doing so. Wade also had a message for "the audience" who have "not digested" Linda's death. "We’re moving on, and I really don’t know that it’s something I could revisit," the showrunner revealed. Nevertheless, people are still hoping for a glimpse of Amy Carlson when the show returns in September.

Linda Reagan's death certainly had a lasting effect on her husband Danny Reagan throughout the eighth season. However, there is little doubt that Donnie Wahlberg's character is trying his best to deal with the situation and will be set for bigger cases in Blue Bloods Season 9.

The Blue Bloods Season 9 air date has not yet been announced. However, the series is expected to return on CBS in late September.
