‘Yuri On Ice’ Season 2 News & Update: Yuri Katsuki’s Medal Hints Story Is Far From Over; Sequel Happening Soon?

After Yuri On Ice concluded back in December 2016, many believed that Yuri On Ice Season 2 was already a done deal. The success of the first installment made the demand for a sequel to the Japanese sports anime television series incredibly high. However, two years later, nothing much has been said about it. Is Yuri On Ice Season 2 still happening?

What made Yuri on Ice an instant hit was its guts to explore something that most anime wouldn’t even dare to touch—sexuality. Even though the Japanese animation is on the fanservice side of the Sports anime spectrum, the story offered more than anyone could have ever expected it, leading fans to believe that Yuri On Ice Season 2 is bound to happen anytime soon.

Many speculated that Yuri On Ice Season 2 would be released in October 2017. Obviously, that did not happen. Now, fans have started to have their doubts if Yuri On Ice Season 2 will ever return to the small screen. But since Yuri On Ice Season 1 Episode 12 hinted that Yuri Katsuki’s story is certainly far from over, there is still a high chance that a sequel is going to happen.

Unlike the other time protagonists, Yuri had to face mockery and defeat. Fans got to see the shy figure skater let himself go and gain a lot of weight due to his embarrassing loss.

While trying to move on from the embarrassment, Yuri's ultimate idol, Victor Nikiforov, showed interest in coaching him. This is when he started to lose all the excess weight and found a purpose to do what he loves best, which is ice skating.

Not surprisingly, Yuri gained confidence with his idol Victor by his side, training him well to become the next best thing on the ice. Unfortunately, despite having the five-time World Champion as his coach, Yuri Katsuki only ended up winning the silver medal.

Yuri’s loss had definitely devastated a lot of fans, especially because they had witnessed the young boy’s losing moments in the past. However, Yuri Katsuki’s silver medal could also be a sign that people have not seen the last of him yet.

Will Yuri Katsuki finally bag the gold medal in Yuri On Ice Season 2? For now, fans have yet to wait for an official update regarding the sequel to know the answer.
