More 'RDR 2' Related Details Leaked Online In The Form Of A New Trailer

"Red Dead Redemption" is just around the corner. Taking the skyrocketing hype building around the upcoming title into consideration, Rockstar released an awe-inspiring trailer, giving "RDR" fans a brief glimpse of all aspects of the game. The developer accidentally spilled the beans about the upcoming project along with the recently rolled out trailer.

Despite multiple speculations stemming from the "Red Dead Redemption 2" trailer, there's still a scarcity of concrete details as far as the title's setting is concerned. That being said, "RDR" fanatics had no choice but to ferret out more details themselves after having relied on Rockstar Games to do it for a long time, almost a year, to be more precise.

Lining with this, GTAForums member known as RedDagger started a thread entitled, "Mapping Red Dead Redemption 2! Landmark Analysis Thread," on October 20, 2016. The aforesaid thread comprised landmark analysis of "RDR2," which is slated to hit the store shelves in Q2 2018. It's worth noting that Rockstar Games had not even confirmed that it was working on "Red Dead Redemption 2" at the time.

However, RedDagger was bent on finding more details about the real-world settings within "RDR2" in a bid to recreate the in-game map with the help of screenshots and official trailer. This sparked discussions among "Red Dead Redemption" loyalists and as a result, the thread grew into a massive 30-page analysis. This colossal collective effort has been reported by Kotaku.

While this effort might seem pointless, the hawk-eyed members of the forum were able to acquire success to some extent. It is worth noting that shreds of information divulged in "Red Dead Redemption 2" trailer and screenshots are few and far between.

Last year, a leaked image of "Red Dead Redemption 2" map was posted to NeoGAF. The map was removed from the popular forum but not before avid gamers from around the world got their hands on it. An unnamed source told TechRadar that the map was real.

While Rockstar Games continue to reveal more details about "RDR2," more locations from the leaked map have made an appearance in trailers, lending it believability. Some mappers identified landmarks and linked events shown in the trailers to their corresponding setting on the map.

One GTAForums user, Alz linked the leaked maps to the maps from "GTA V" and the original "Red Dead Redemption." The first "Red Dead" weighed in at 59,385 pixels (about 5.8 square miles), while the sequel was recorded at a massive 91,207 pixels (about 8.8 square miles). At 230,257 pixels (about 2.3 square miles), "Grand Theft Auto V" tipped the scales.

The two map sizes cannot be compared since they are totally different games. However, Alz pointed out that exploring the land will be relatively slower on a horse than a vehicle, noting that the map will still feel remarkably big in "RDR2." Some mappers believe there's a possibility that the leaked map might turn out to be inaccurate or outmoded when "RDR2" finally releases in the spring next year.
