Samsung Oculus Gear VR Pre-Order Now Available; Brand New Virtual Reality Games Out Now
Samsung has started taking pre-orders for their second generation Oculus powered Gear VR, and it only costs $99, according to Tech Crunch.
Shipping starts as early as Nov. 20, but no word just yet on global availability, reveals TNW.
Along with the pre-order announcement, are a handful of games hitting the scene to support the launch.
Several developers have released brand new games, specifically made for virtual reality games on Gear VR.
Games like Dead Secret by Robot Invader, Land's End by UsTwo Games and Bandit Six:Salvo by Climax Studio are available a the Oculus store.
Coming soon are titles like Gunjack by CCP and Anshar Wars 2 by OZWE.
Lighter by 19% than the previous Innovator Edition, the new Gear VR features improved ergonomics. It has a redesigned touchpad for easier navigation as well, according to Oculus.
Just like the earlier version, by strapping the Galaxy phone to the front of the unit, virtual reality is served. Just like initial Samsung launches, the device will only work nicely with its own smartphones.
Supported models include S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge+ and Galaxy Note 5.
There are no wires, but compared to the HTC Vive or Oculus Rift, the virtual reality is limited.
Users can see Google Street View, watch Netflix, or browse a growing collection of VR games. The Oculus powered Gear VR is equipped with a supply of sensors.
Accelerators and proximity sensors heighten the user's virtual experience. Oculus served improved graphics and superior virtual reality effects.
In addition to videos and great games on Gear VR, users can also experience the Oculus 360 Photos.
Captured by some of the world's leading photographers, Oculus has added 200,000 photos. This will let users explore the surroundings in 360 degrees.
The Gear VR also lets you hang out with your friends in a virtual space. Oculus Social lets users select an avatar, find friends and watch videos together.
The Oculus powered Gear VR is available at Amazon, Best Buy, and Samsung.
