'Wynonna Earp' Season 3: Show Creator Wants Sigourney Weaver Or Lucy Lawless As Wynonna's Mom

"Wynonna Earp" delivered quite a number of shocking revelations in Season 2. Waverly (Dominique Provost-Chalkley) discovered that she is not a Revenant like her big sister and the show's protagonist, Wynonna (Melanie Scrofano), gave birth to her and Doc Holliday's (Tim Rozon) daughter. But, perhaps, the biggest revelation that will play a major role in Season 3 is the appearance of Wynonna and Waverly's mom, Michelle. 

While she was mentioned quite a few times in the paranormal series, Michelle has pretty much been absent throughout Wynonna and Waverly's lives. It is known that the character walked out on her children when they were young and never to return again. 

However, the finale episode titled "I Hope You Dance" suggested that not only will the Earp matriarch appear in "Wynonna Earp" Season 3, but she also will play a major role in the next chapter of Wynonna and Waverly's story. "Fine, you were right. Bulshar's back," Wynonna said at the end of the second season. "Now what do we do about it... Momma?"

As of this writing, neither Andras nor Syfy has revealed who will play the role of Momma Earp in the upcoming season. However, in an interview with TV Line, show creator Emily Andras shared her dream casting. 

"Sigourney Weaver is my dream casting for everything, l so I would say her, 100 percent. She could pull off the hair, and she has the sass," she stated. "But Lucy Lawless would be incredible, can you imagine? Ohhh, if Xena was Wynonna Earp's mother... I feel like the feminist/warrior princess time continuum would explode, but it would be completely worth it. That would probably be my No. 1 right there."

Both Weaver and Lawless are wonderful actors who will be awesome for the role. The two have been strong female role models for generations of women and can, therefore, deliver a version of the character that can kick demon a** like her daughters. 

As for how Waverly is going to react about the reappearance of their mom in their lives and, worse, that her sister knew where she is, fans will have to wait and see. "Wynonna Earp" Season 3 is expected to premiere in 2018 on Syfy.
