Vikings Season 5

There are still a few more months before the newest season of the critically-acclaimed period action-drama, "Vikings," returns to television for a fifth season. However, work on the next season has already started, despite the absence of a renewal announcement from History.

According to reports, the series based on the legendary warriors are already looking for extras in Dublin and Wicklow in Ireland.  History has already put up a casting call which reveals that filming for "Vikings" Season 6 will commence later this year.

Den of Geek reports that the network is looking for "fishermen, carpenters, craftspeople, farm workers, axe men/women, skilled swords people, M&F archers, bowmen & women, M&F rowers, M&F sailors, ship hands & deckhands, calligraphers, Latin speakers, Arab musicians, midwives, nurses, animal handlers, hunters, blacksmiths, lumberjacks, magicians, jugglers, tree surgeons," etc. The inclusion of Latin and Arab speakers give a hint at where the series might be heading next.

"Vikings" Season 5 brought the legendary warriors into territories they have never set foot before. While Ivar the Boneless (Alex Hogh Andersen) will heading to York to face off with Bishop Heahmund (Jonathan Rhys Myers) and the warrior priests, his half-brother Bjorn Ironside (Alexander Ludwig) will sail to the Mediterranean. Meanwhile, Floki (Gustaf Skarsgard), after losing his wife and his best friend, accidentally will land on Iceland to established the first Vikings settlement in the new territory.

An announcement of the renewal of "Vikings" Season 6 is yet to happen. Show creator and head writer Michael Hirst has not confirmed whether the story of Ivar and his brothers will continue for another season. However, at San Diego Comic Con earlier this year, he revealed that he has already started writing the next installment despite the absence of a renewal from History.

"I have no definite new," he said as quoted by Inquisitr. "[B]ut I certainly hope so because I am writing the episodes."

"Vikings" Season 5 will be released on Nov. 29 with a two-hour premiere episode. In the meantime, watch the next season trailer below.
