Nam Tae Hyun's South Club Drops Surprise Cover Of G-Dragon's 'Untitled 2014'
Nam Tae Hyun has dropped a surprise for his and G-Dragon's fans when he and his band South Club dropped a fresh cover of the BIGBANG leader's "Untitled 2014." The track was released via SoundCloud which was met with many positive comments from netizens.
According to Soompi, Nam Tae Hyun and South Band covered the song using a different arrangement which highlighted the emotional aspect of the song and Nam Tae Hyun's vocals. The band used an acoustic arrangement that separates their version from the original.
It can be recalled that former WINNER member Nam Tae Hyun was among the artists who was the most excited about the release of G-Dragon's "Kwon Ji Yong" solo comeback. Both artists worked together as part of the YG Entertainment family for many years before Nam Tae Hyun left last year.
Nam Tae Hyun's version of "Untitled 2014," commenters said had a different appeal than G-Dragon's. However, most of the consensus on the threads favored G-Dragon's original version better because of the depth of emotion that he was able to infuse with the song as well evoke from the listeners.
It comes as no surprise that "Untitled 2014" is considered one of G-Dragon's most successful ballads. In his "Act III" MOTTE" World Tour stop in Macau, the BIG BANG leader admitted that the song was very personal and was not supposed to even be part of the album.
Meanwhile, Nam Tae Hyun, after leaving WINNER and YG Entertainment last year citing mental health issues, has established his own label South Buyers Club to manage his new band South Club. They have already released their first track "Hug Me" last May which was supported even by YG CEO Yang Hyun Suk, proving that the decision to part ways came with no hard feelings. Nam Tae Hyun's South Club is expected to release their first album soon, Kpopstarz reported.
