BIGBANG leader G-Dragon recently kicked off his comeback with the release of his self-titled album, “Kwon Ji Yong”. His new title track and album landed on various music charts all over the world. However, his unique album caught more attention than he and his agency hoped for.

G-Dragon’s new album was released in a new and unique packaging. “Kwon Ji Yong” was released as a USB album that goes in two colors, red and blue. The red album has received complaints from fans, showing proof on the internet that the color wears off and stains fingers. Some fans have defended the popular singer saying that this was all part of his concept and not an issue of quality control. It seems like the fans were right all along about that notion.

YG Entertainment recently revealed that the alleged problem with his red “Kwon Ji Yong” album was intentional. The agency released an official statement and addressed the issue with G-Dragon’s album, responding that the ink on the red album was a deliberate attempt to portray the concept of his new album, which is birth. YG Entertainment even released behind-the-scenes photos of the production of the said red USB albums to support their statement. The photos showed that countless USB albums were manually colored with red markers to achieve that smear and vintage look they wanted to achieve.

G-Dragon’s new album has been surrounded by controversy lately. YG Entertainment’s novel idea of releasing the album in USB format has been received with mix reactions. Aside from the quality of the album, there's debate over whether or not it should be considered as a physical album. G-Dragon and his agency announced that it doesn’t matter to them if the album is not counted as a physical one since their goal is to explore and introduce new music.
