Big Bang’s T.O.P To Undergo Psychiatric Treatment After Overdose Recovery
Big Bang member T.O.P's condition has significantly improved since June 8, according to the idol's mother. After being hospitalized for a drug overdose, T.O.P has been in a narcotic state for 2 days, according to the team of doctors treating the idol at Ewha Women's University Medical Center. Medical experts also stipulated in the media briefing that T.O.P's mental health should be a priority and that he should receive psychiatric treatment as soon as he recovers.
"His condition has improved substantially," T.O.P's mother revealed to reporters who have gathered at the hospital to find out about the Big Bang rapper's latest condition. T.O.P has been in recuperating in the intensive care unit but has since shown signs of recovery. According to his mother, T.O.P has already woken up and has even made eye contact with her. A police senior officer from T.O.P's police squad even revealed that the idol opened his eyes and seemed to react to him. "He recognized me. It seems he can communicate," the officer said, who accompanied the mother. An official from the hospital also confirmed the Big Bang member's improvement, saying, "We believe he will be able to leave the intensive care unit tomorrow." The singer/rapper's vitals have also returned to normal, according to the official, but still, needs to undergo psychiatric treatment.
The medical experts in charge of T.O.P considered that the idol should receive psychiatric or psychotherapy treatment. However, it is still undecided whether the patient will receive the treatment at his current hospital or at an outside mental health facility. Big Bang fans are well aware of T.O.P's sensitivity and mental fragility. The idol has had a previous case of hospitalization due to a suspected overdose in 2008, which the public believes to be a suicide attempt.
According to sources, T.O.P has always had bouts of depression, which is why his close friends and family have always kept a close eye on him. The idol's manager even reportedly prohibited him from putting a lock code on his phone, so that he may keep track of the happenings in the Big Bang member's life. Whether or not this was a suicide attempt, receiving psychiatric treatment will do no harm. Mental health should be prioritized for idols like T.O.P, and psychiatric treatment should not be seen shameful.
